Where have you been?

You may wonder why the train to Artsville has been stopped in the station temporarily. Well there have been a couple of reasons.

1) One of my best friends came in from out of town as her Mom was ill in the hospital. She is originally from the Chicagoland area but moved to Colorado several years ago. I spent a lot of time cooking for her (as you know I fancy myself quite the chef). I made her homemade pasta, soups, sauces, sandwiches and yes they were all created with a side of love. She needed it. Food soothes the soul.

This is us when I visited her about a year ago.

Luckily her Mother is doing much better but sadly she went back home and I will miss her stinky ass.

2) The week she was leaving I suffered a horrible migraine attack. It lasted almost a week and it looked something like this :

Three medication changes later I am feeling better. Today is the first day I have been back on my game. I have finished step two of my new Art piece "Ride the Lashes" :

Hopefully I can finish this piece and the other three I am working on this week.

In the works :

Mary Agnes - I am changing the background.

Jacked Up - Need to finish painting

This last one has not been named yet. I am creating it for my friend Chandos. Yes this is a VERY rough sketch on the back of an envelope but it'll do until I get it on paper or canvas. Trust me, it will look better..LOL

Now back to that saddle Aerosmith *wink*:

Breast Cancer Awareness Treasury

My Art is quite whimsical and I hardly ever paint anything realistic. Art for me is a seed planted in my heart that then branches and flourishes like a tree through my mind soaking in my imagination but in the case of Breast Cancer Awareness, I can easily say that even though my whimsy peeks through, this topic is centered in my heart.

Two of the most important and influential people of my life battled Breast Cancer and these feelings gave way to this painting :

Shine On

My Grandmother is a Breast Cancer survivor :

And my Mother died from Liver Cancer that was metastasized from Breast Cancer last year.

I thought why not promote awareness on Etsy with a Treasury. I can offer my painting (seen above) in the collection and if purchased I will donate $25 to Susan G Komen for the Cure and find other great Etsy pieces that promote awareness and that might possibly donate to charity as well. So I created this Treasury :

Several of the pieces, if purchased, will have funds donated to various Cancer charities. All Sellers that plan to donate to a charity, have the charity and the portion of donation listed on their item. Even if a Sellers is not donating, the pieces are all still great for spreading awareness.

Please go check out my Treasury at Etsy as there are some great items in the collection.

My inspiration :

Love For Me

Slender fingers grasp at me
Bandaging cuts

Thin lips curl for me
Magic is sung for me
Bellies reeling
Love is showered upon
Eyes sparkling
My Mother's love for me

My First Etsy Treasury

I asked myself, "Ashlee, what is the next step for promoting my Art and hopefully helping promote some other wonderful creative folk from Etsy?" Then it hit me, create your own Treasury on Etsy!

And yes, my thought process looks very much like what is portrayed to the left in this ridiculous photo shoot.

Then I asked myself, "what theme would I present?" Well it is getting closer to Spring and Easter and both of those times make me think of pastel vibrant colors and Easter egg painting. Then it dawned on me, what if I was an Easter egg and I had to translated into such things as Art, accessories and other creative items? My light bulb got even brighter and it was then that my Treasury was born :

Go out and take a look, you just might be drawn into the whimsy or it may just inspire your own creativity. The pieces I selected are fun and I hope people enjoy them as much as I do.

This was a good way to spend the morning but I need to get back to my new piece I am making:

Ride the Lashes

I still have to finish the charcoal, paint the background and add my motorcycle. I hope everyone is having an eventful or relaxing Sunday. Cheers!

Silly rabbit, I almost forgot, don't forget to check me out like your favorite sinister book in the Library on Facebook :

Oh and I think you know...I like being shared like a dirty whore so spread the word on Rubber Monty. It is the Art company "where Art breathes".
